Photographs are the predominant format, with lots that include works by Annie Liebovitz, Mary McCartney, Irving Penn, Juergen Teller and filmmaker Sam Taylor-Wood.

The sale, curated by Gert Elfering, will offer very limited editions of works that are otherwise unavailable on commercial markets, many of which are expected to sell at prices in the tens of thousands.

Gert Elfering said, ‘As I saw the collection taking shape, I was delighted by the variety and the consistent power of the works, and I have already enjoyed seeing the positive reaction in the faces of others when they first see them.’

A public exhibition of the images and artworks will begin tomorrow, Saturday September 21 at 2pm, and run every day until the auction itself on September 25 at 5pm. For more information, visit www.christies.com.
