LAS VEGAS u2013 Sony claims its new Alpha 5000 is the smallest and lightest Wi-Fi-enabled system camera.

The A5000 carries a 20.1MP Exmor APS HD CMOS imaging sensor and a 180° tiltable screen for ‘easy self-portraits’ and ‘single-handed selfies’.

Speaking at a press conference in Las Vegas, Sony president

Mike Fasulo said the camera is aimed at step-up users and those seeking

an alternative to a DSLR.

Boasting DSLR image quality, the E-mount camera includes Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, plus a lever to control zooming.

It is said to weigh 210g, body only.

The A5000 incorporates 25 contrast-detect AF points and a 3in screen, in addition to a Bionz X imaging processor.

The new Alpha compact system camera will go on sale in March, at a price yet to be announced.
