Canon Marketing Japan Inc has reported a rise in group sales, signalling a ‘moderate recovery’ in the Japanese economy, say the camera maker.

Canon’s marketing arm recorded a 0.2% growth in overall sales for the three months to 31 March, compared to the same quarter in 2009.

However, the firm’s Japanese HQ is cautious regarding its forecast for the rest of the year.

‘For Financial Year 2010 the Japanese economy will make a mild recovery. But it will be still unclear situation (sic),’ states Canon’s Financial Results Summary.
