Photographers will soon be able to manually control exposure in video mode via a firmware upgrade due out for Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR.

The upgrade is expected to allow full manual control of aperture, ISO speed and shutter speed.

Canon Europe has confirmed that the upgrade is due to be released on 2 June, via its website.

‘This will open up a multitude of new possibilities for photojournalists and news photographers’, said a Canon spokesman.

The 21.1-million-pixel, full-frame, camera was launched in September 2008.
