New Canon EOS-1DX firmware is designed to allow the camerau2019s centre AF point u2013 one cross-type with four supporting points u2013 to be used at a maximum aperture of f/8.

Firmware version 1.1.1, released today, also illuminates viewfinder information, with the AF points blinking intermittently red – ‘allowing them to be easily confirmed while shooting without affecting the metering of the scene’, according to Canon.

The new firmware also aims to correct ‘where the metering value of the AE sensor becomes abnormal, affecting the final image’, and introduces other minor fixes.
