Winners of the 10th Annual Black & White Spider Awards included a British photographer who was runner-up and another Brit who was nominated four times.

The UK’s Samuel Hicks won second place in the professional category, while Steve Gosling won nominations in the abstract, architectural, nature and still-life categories.

‘It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 7,686 entries we received this year,’ said Basil O’Brien, creative director of the awards, which are designed to honour excellence in black & white photography.

Frans Van Hoogstraten from the Netherlands claimed the amateur title, and French photographer Aernout Overbeeke was crowned best professional.

‘This celebrated event shines a spotlight on the best professional and amateur photographers worldwide and honours the finest images with the highest achievements in black & white photography,’ organisers added.
