Open to amateur and professional photographers, the British Life Photography Awards boasts a £10,000 prize pot.

The overall winner will bag £6,000 worth of Sony kit.

‘The awards celebrate British life and culture, while also highlighting the relevance and importance of photography to raise and inform,’ say organisers.

The contest features ten categories, including street life, portraiture and rural life.

There is a special award for the best documentary feature, and one for the best young photographer.

The closing date is 20 September 2014.
