Famed author Jilly Cooper has urged newspapers to properly credit photographers for their images.

Famed author Jilly Cooper has urged newspapers to properly credit photographers for their images.

In a letter published in The Times newspaper yesterday Jilly Cooper wrote: ?I would like to start a campaign for bigger and more appropriate bylines for photographers.?

Referring to a photo of footballer Frank Lampard – published in The Times on 2 May and hailed as ?image of the day? – she said: ?The only thing wrong with this exquisite marriage of copy and photograph was that the name of the photographer (Matt Dunham) was hidden like a tiny, tiny centipede on the top right of the picture.?

The Gloucestershire-based novelist wants photographers to be given greater recognition.

?Over and over again photographers get miniscule bylines or no byline at all. And I feel they should get equal billing to writers because their contribution is just as important,? she continued.
