Is it just me in believing that events such as this are so over-priced as to be out of reach for many an interested individual ? Assuming one would want to attend the entire event, and not live locally, I'd estimate that you would not have much change left over from £500 once food, hotels and transport had been taken into account. http://www.wildphotos.org.uk/about/

Not my field, but if I were a young aspiring professional wildlife photographer then I might consider it money well spent and looking at the photos from previous events it appears to be well attended (https://www.flickr.com/photos/wild_photos/). It just a question of priorities, but I'd say the price is probably par for the course, in fact it looks like good value when compared to the Guardian's photography courses. :)

I suppose it's not their fault you don't live within commuting distance. Looks interesting if you are in to this style of photography.

Very true, although I used to live in Kent and commuted daily into London. These days I can understand how much of the UK population gets a little tired of the London centre focus.
