Thanks everybody - it didn't take a great deal of organising so the success of the day is more down to the people that turned up.

Andy - next time you take my photo, please can you blur out the lines and wrinkles before posting it!!!!! :D

The Bluebell Railway has been suggested as a good place for the next meetup. In the winter clear blue skies, plenty of steam in the cold air and fewer tourists could make it a cracker of a day - anybody fancy taking that one on?

Andy - those macros are fantastic. After watching you take those shots of the crab spider I had a look at the MP-E lens on the 'net and it's certainly a fantastic piece of kit. All I need now is for somebody to release a lens like that with a PKA mount........

Cheers guys...turns out the jumping spider is Marpissa mucosa. One of the biggest in the UK apparently

Can you get a PKA to EF convertor Dave? No need to worry about infinity focus or AF with it...just so long as the aperture can be used. It's an addictive bit of kit ;)

That's about all from me. As others have said, the strong lighting made shooting through the enclosures a quite difficult. Hardly any of my photographs of moving animals were in focus, and as per poor workman everywhere, I shall blame my tools :).

Some fantastic photos posted here, I have really got to get a DSLR now, I am so impressed - was I at the same place?

This is one I got on my G9 - it's dramatic, it's got impact, it's man against nature, wildlife at its best. I've already taken out the copyright on it.

Anyway, my 36 exposure film will be back next Monday so hopefully I will have something of interest using my 100mm macro lens, but having seen the really inspiring shots posted so far I'm not getting my hopes up too much, but you never know. Still it's the fun of taking part, isn't it?

Was a great day and good to meet some of you, and definitely up for the Bluebell Railway.

    Phil
