and while thinking about Brussels - you don't see this every day ..

a quite astonishing work of art. Unfortunately it soon went elsewhere. Taken in the front of the African Museum at Tervuren in 2012.

Sort of interesting - a picture of where I can usually be found of an evening!

and continuing the Smurf theme, for those that spotted it, again something you don't see every day.

Try this after a few pints .... or maybe you need few pints to get up there.

There is, coincidentally, a beer festival going on 30 yards to the right.

Hasn’t that pub won some award recently?

Google says "best in Manchester" (by Manchester Evening News) which seems a bit disrespectful of Rochdale and one of 16 finalists of CAMRA pub of the year.

Ok thanks. I knew I’d seen it somewhere. Rochdale is in Greater Manchester, so they aren’t far wrong.

Yes, the pub initially won the Rochdale Oldham and Bury CAMRA award for best pub, and went forward into the judging for Greater Manchester pub of the year, which it also won. There are sixteen regional winners - Greater Manchester being one of the regions - and the national pub of the year is chosen from these. The CAMRA national pub of the year result is due to be announced early next year.

I came across this a little while ago - reminded me of just how otherworldly some places can be. This is one of the Dutch motorways crossing one of the great polders.

Some old gun emplacements in Santa Pola dating from the Spanish civil war.

I don't think he ever was though.

A friend of mine parks his bike outside the pub - and very pretty is is too!

It's only when I was looking back at the picture that I realised that 103 cubic inches is quite large for a motorcycle engine - it works out at 1687.87cc, or (near as damn it) 1.7 litres! Yes, my mate Tony is riding about on a motorbike with an engine that's twice the size of the one in his car!

Meh, kids stuff. Check out the Dodge Tomahawk.

Though don't try riding one on British roads. Or any roads, in fact...

I think it might tell us a little about where U.S. law enforcement is heading. Dread the Judge! :D
