... or, at least, got our first definite order for the G9 ;)

I, honestly, find it hard to believe that a camera is announced
on a Monday and we have first serious order on a Friday

Indicates they must have thought about it! Usually takes me between 6 months and 2 years to go betwen first consideration and a decision. I see no point in being a first adopter though if everyone thought the same way there would be no products.

    Or didn't...

There seem to be those who must have the latest gadget the moment it's available, hence the queues outside Apple stores every time there's a new phone out...

Maybe the extra 4MP over the G8 was important to him/her/it/them?

And it does get very good reviews.

I'm pleased to say I'm still happy with my G2 so there's no chance of my flying to Canada to place an order with Jack. ;)

I still have my G2, Andrew, albeit a Canon G2 ;) and, speaking of the Panasonic G9, the fellow
who purchased it, came in on Wednesday to pick up the (new) Panasonic 200/2.8 lens (with the 1.4X
included). He's leaving early next month on a trip to Antarctica  He's the third person/customer, I
know who going/gone to Antarctica in the couple of months :).

And, here's me being happy to get out of downtown Vancouver ;)

Cheers .... and we'll see you in Vancouver for the Panasonic G10, Andrew :D

    Which raises an interesting(?) point.

Panasonic have already done a G10, a few years back. So what will they call the model after the G9? They can't go all Apple and call it the GX as they already have the GX range and things could get confusing...

    Isn't there already a Canon Powershot G10?

Yes, indeed, Chris  and, as Steve mentions, a Panasonic G10 ... not sure, maybe, Panasonic will have to
    cease making cameras :D

Cheers and Hi to Elsie :)

Do you still take it out, once in a while, Gezza ? I think, the last time I had mine out was a few years back ;)

    Cheers,

Anyone who can afford a trip to Antarctica can easily afford to buy cameras on a whim. I think the trip this month with Kevin Raber of Luminous Landscapes may be in the order of £13,000 without flights.

    Hi Mark,

the fellow is a retired architect so, I'm guessing, he's not hurting too badly ;) and, wow, where is this Mr. Raber off to?

    Cheers,

Luminous Landscapes appear to do a few very up market workshops. Well outside most people scope, even in above average jobs in my opinion . https://luminous-landscape.com

Heck, Mark, with that 10K USD, you could fly over to Vancouver and pick up a Panasonic G9 :D and, heck, I'd even
splurge for a few libations of your choice .....

To be honest I would Jack, but my wife has developed a fear of flying which means the rest of Europe by train is our only alternative to the UK at the moment. Looking at the prices, including flights, it would be just as expensive for two weeks if not slightly less than a decent holiday cottage in Cornwall.

Well, this might take a while, but, it seems relatively (decently) price, Mark, and it'll get you right to Vancouver :) and, no flying needed, I don't think ;)
