Since the Rugby World Cup is on

    Here are some vintage rugby shots, taken on a bleak Saturday in winter, 1970, with a 50mm lens on a Zenit 3m. The film was Ilford FP4, developed in D76.

    I like them, but the colours are a bit off, I guess it was grim in those days and even the grass was washed out.

    At least the All Blacks team is more diverse these days even if the Haka is more intimidating and they are still the best remain the world. No offence to Wales.

    It was a gloomy day, and the lens (58mm, not 50mm, Helios - my error) was not particularly contrasty.

    I was trying to be funny John, about it being in black and white, wasn't commenting on the actual image quality. As I said, I enjoy the shots!
