No - it's on the forum only. The main AP page is free of it.

Presumably the newsletter could mention it? o_O

I thought of that, too - but, even I wasn't pedantic enough to say it! ;) :D

I have it on screen now, but I can still read, and if you can still read this, comment.
Clearly the host of the website has some green kid just out of university trying to create a database of users of the site. Anyone posting clearly is already registered.
To be fair to he/she or it, the IT systems are probably pre Homo neanderthalensis. (A slight overstatement perhaps).

OK I have it on my iMac but not my 15" MacBook Pro, I thought the settings were the same on both. I'll have to see where they differ.

Are you guys that are having the issues using the AP forum style or the default forum style?

I am using the default forum style and I am not having this issue.

You can change style right at the bottom left of the forum

Feck knows who's behind this but they need a boot behind them, IMVHO.

Awaiting a response having raised the issue.

Until then all I can do is apologise, it's not good enough.

Default style seems to kill it, but it's very distracting having the forum not look how it's looked for years. Reactionary? Me? Obviously!

Well it's looked like this for years for me!

My only hope is that this option for a "vanilla look", i.e. minus all active content, doesn't get removed.

I've been using default for some time now, ever since the last time I was plagued by ads. Not seen that annoying pop-up.

Believe you me, it's the most annoying and repetitive pop-up I've encountered since I was a teenager!

It's crazy. If I'm not logged in I get the pop up incessantly - makes the site unusable.

If I am logged in I'm free of it UNTIL I CHANGE PAGES - and then I get logged out and up it pops again.

    It really is intolerable.

    MickLL

I even got logged out when I tried to post this. Had to log in again to post.

When I was at uni I took great pleasure in installing a small .exe file named "free porn" on each uni PC I used (this was back when IT people didn't lock down the computers). If anyone was stupid enough to click on it (and yes, some people were!) it would open 10 popup windows, with some message about you shouldn't wa*k at work or such like. Each time you tried to close a window, it would open 10 more. Basically it would spiral into killing your PC's memory and you'd have to just switch it off. At the plug. :D

An open admission of computer misuse?:eek::eek:;)

FWIW I use the default view because it means I can see the new posts button without turning the my phone round.

Default style does appear to be the answer, I've always used it, although on first opening this thread yesterday I did get the sign up pop up, it has not reappeared since

Depends when you looked. Post #9 is a screen shot of the sign. It was posted while I was on the thread and for a couple of minutes it completely fooled me into believing I was seeing the actual pop-up.
