You know when someone says "Don't think of an elephant!", you can't help but think of an elephant? Catriona, (I think), said not to make the Monthly Theme anything that relates to my art school work. I kept thinking of themes and thinking 'but that kind of *does* relate! So in the end, the only way to avoid work...is to relax. Have some fun. Play. This month's theme therefore is Fun & Games. You can choose to interpret that how you will. People having fun doing all sorts of things. Sporting activities. Folk wandering around playing Pokemon Go! Card games. Board games. Dancing. Colouring in. What you do for fun. What someone else does for fun. Singing. Laughing. Skipping. I guess even working if it looks like fun!

If a Mod could please move this to the relevant spot in the themes/comp forum, I'd be very grateful

Thanks Kath. I really only meant the nudes!! Fun? Trying to get workmen to come when they say they will - now that is fun!

Will put my thinking hat on.....

Well I expect the rules are stretchy enough around here that you could interpret 'fun and games' in an ironic way - watching a dripping tap while waiting for the plumber?

Just a couple of examples from the archive...feel free to go a completely different direction though of course!

    Laughter is always fun!

Shooting a piece of performance art - he had fun, the audience enjoyed it, I was having fun too!

I think they both enjoyed this exchange.

Riffling through old records...now what could be more fun than that? Other than maybe listening to them?

Now, a riffle through someone else's bookshelves - that's always fun!

I gave away the vast majority of my books. Clean sweep - almost! Downsizing isn't always fun. :(

Our fun and games start today, putting the house back together after decorating.
All of these books, records and nick knacks are going back in the study after being in the porch for the past few days.

The riffling through records photo really resonates with me. I can smell them just thinking about it.

Love the theme. I won't be able to take any new pictures for it, and I have to be careful not to try and post about 30 from the last few years (I seem to have a lot that fit this theme).

So, here's a few of my favourites, most of them are literal.

Sunday football in the UK - what could be more fun?

Oh, I know. Only too well. I have hung on to most of my photography-related books/design books, but we have no room for more. At the moment, there are about twenty boxes of books being stored in a friend's garage while I decide if I can bear to get rid of them completely or not!

I like the kite flyer especially. I have seen it before but a real joy to see it again

It's a great memory of a great little mini-holiday for me, so I'm always glad to share it :)

One of the problems with having a cottage as well as a house is that there is more space to store books!
Anyway here is a corner pf the cottage sitting room

For the fun of it, and just to get me off the mark, here are a couple from my archive:

    They call this fun?

And as a complete contrast, never too old to have fun:
