Here is a set from a trip on Tram 28 in Lisbon at night taken out the window. The tram created the movement I was leaning of the wife to grab these as we sped along

All shown in the order they were shot I took more but chose these for the ste of 12

Lot of fun. Have spent a lot of time on those trams. Heard they go to San Francisco when finished in Lisbon.

There was an item on the San Francisco cable-car system on the TV the other day (impossible railways or something like). I hadn't realised they worked off an underground cable that is continuously circulating. The cable-car clutches the cable to move and releases it to stop. At cable-car junctions the driver has to release and coast across to avoid striking the opposing cable. Fascinating stuff. Because accelerating from rest can only be achieved through slippage the clutches wear out at an amazing rate.

The trans in SF are great. We really enjoyed using them, the children mainly though.

Haha. I didn’t clock that typo, lol.

Rather apt too considering we are talking about San Francisco!

ETA on further reading it looks even worse. I want to clarify I am not talking about trans children.

Reading up on the subject it seems that where 2 or more cables cross there are transfer points. Hang on... ;)

see post#6. I expect the series is in a loop so the episode should come around again soon.

They have them in Lisbon too. But I think the go to SF story is a local myth.
