I have been using tomato ketchup for well over 40 years and never kept it in the fridge. I have had brown sauce in the house for 29 years and bever kept it in the fridge. A am not about to start keeping either in the fridge.

Sounds entirely reasonable, and a good enough reason not to change my current practice.

Ah, yes - I remember HP sauce from when I was a kid. I haven't seen it for years. I do use Worcestershire sauce in cooking.

Doubt it gets warmed up too much in the few seconds it takes to shake and squirt before returning to the fridge.

Obviously I'm still talking about ketchup...

She's on the islands, everything is still typewritten so that'll buy her some valuable time.

    Don't know about that .
The tables set while teas still being cooked .
Plates , cutlery , sauces , salt , pepper etc are all on the table first , and put away after eating , eating pudding etc .
So might be on the table for an hour or so .
Plenty time to get to room temperature , if they weren't already .

You're doing it wrong. :p Food goes on a plate, ketchup taken from fridge and applied, returned to fridge, plate taken to table and meal consumed.
