Please post pictures in this thread.
    Rules are very simple:

    1. Each picture has to comply to previous Appraisal Gallery guidelines - max. 800x800 pixels.
    2. Posting is allowed from 00:01 on 1st of the month in question to last day of the month at 23:59, all times GMT or BST - entries outside this period will not be considered.
    3. No comments in the picture thread - you can make them in a separate thread, but comments about if somebody else's picture meets the theme or not are not allowed.
    4. Ideally, pictures should be taken in the month concerned. As this comp is judged by the members, individuals can take their own view at the judging stage on this issue.
    5. In the event of any doubt, my decision is final. However wrong it is.

At the end of this month, the previous winner will draw up a shortlist for people to vote on over the course of a week - one vote per person. In the event of 2 or more pictures being level, a vote-off will be held over 1 day. If still level, a tie will be declared. From next month, the previous month's winner will draw up the shortlist.

So the monthly theme for July is "Neigbourhood Natural History".
    Off you go!

Well, I never thought I'd be entering this one! For full details of the story behind this one please see the 'Bird of Prey' thread in the Appraisal Gallery.

I give you 'Mildly Surprised Kestrel':

A week or two ago I opened my front door to find this juvenile grass snake basking on my doorstep. I had never seen a grass snake before, and I just had time to dash back in for my camera before it got away - this is it on a patch of the front drive in desperate need of a sweep...

Yes, I was quite impressed, myself, Mike :) and, as well, there didn't appear to any 'water discolouration in
