I used this image as a song title (Climb every mountain) in this months supplementary competition but after I posted the entry it occurred to me that the image could be improved by flipping it and was surprised by how much difference it made. Here is the flipped result and a couple of questions
Is it significantly improved? and does this break some unwritten rule?
    Opinions would be welcome

I saw the original the other way round and preferred it that way.

I think most people scan left to right so possibly it feels more natural that way around. I have no preference.

If you're not saying it's a legally accurate record it seems to me you can do anything you want to your picture.

No, the original did. Photographically, this is better because the eye naturally travels from left to right, therefore rests on the people. Other way it starts with them and moves out with nothing to arrest it.

Preferring the first way you see things is like the first version of music you hear etc. The brain logs is as "correct" and what you see later appears unnatural.

Well - it took you well over three hours to flip it around, so it'd be rude if I didn't say that I preferred the second!

    Cheers, Jeff

I must admit I thought I was missing something at post #6 but now all is clear.

I'll be the odd one out and prefer the first (by quite a few marks actually!!).

That really has no bearing on it. I waited until enough had seen it and were used to it that way. You have over-thought it. It is not what you think, but what you think you ought to think :)

    Thank goodness.

Yes easily better. In fact second is the original and first is the flip.
