Dividers/Inserts for Camera Bags?

Does anyone know of a shop that sells individual dividers for camera bags? (That is, the padded inserts with velcro fastening along the edges that normally come included with bags.) I know they are available for Domke and Billingham bags, however (as far as I am aware) these are all box-like structures - I only want simple dividers such as those found in Lowepro, Tamrac, Crumpler, etc bags.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Have you tried writing to LowePro?

Not yet! I will send Lowepro an email if no one in these forums can direct me towards a suitable shop. (I recall that many years ago Jessops used to sell individual dividers of varying sizes under their own brand name, but I can't find them on their website.)

    Hi Terry,

I had the same problem, I considered the Kata 'Modividers' and also considered making my own (actually I considered asking my wife to make them :D) I ended up buying a cheap Hama backpack from 7 day Shop just to get the dividers. I have some spare which you can have (FOC) What size do you need?

Graham, thanks for the links to the Kata dividers. Yes, they are essentially what I am looking for, although I had in mind ready-made dividers with the velcro pre-attached etc (and a slightly less garish colour!). I will investigate the Warehouse Express dividers (Kit-20) further since they match my requirements more closely than do the Morris dividers (Kit-10) - the former being larger than the latter.

Richard, many thanks for your very generous offer. Unfortunately I need fairly large dividers - 15cm (6") wide (excluding the width of the velcro attachments) and about 16cm (6"/6.5") high, and I need three or four of them. I already have several other bags from which I could 'borrow' dividers, but they are all either too narrow and/or too short. I have tried combining smaller dividers, however it doesn't work very well, in particular the lenses and hoods get caught on the joins and all the bits of surplus velcro edging that stick out, and the whole structure is rather unstable!

    Again, thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi Terry,

no problem, yeah the ones I have spare are the small squareish type :(

Regarding actually making your own, theres a company called Point North that sell all kinds of materials for making outdoor clothing. They sell a very wide velcro (10cm) and micro fleece in various colours. I'm sure with some spray glue (or a sewing machine), a sleeping mat (closed cell foam) and a little care you could easily make something along the lines of the Kata dividers.

I may just give it a go as it's always a problem getting dividers just the right size.

    Good luck, Richard
