I was doing some shrub pruning yesterday when I came upon this fella on a viburnum opulus.

I think it is a Privet Hawk Moth larva.

 

I'll take your word for it - it's a good shot.

 

What a beauty.

 

I found one of these last week behind the shed. First time I had seen one.

 

I would have called the police!

 

Or gone camping. Looks like a fancy sleeping bag!
