Frances and I will be at Arles for the opening week and we'll be doing portfolio reviews for Voies Off on Thursday from 3 to 5. Anyone else going to be there?

    Cheers,

    R.

Sorry Roger but I have an appointment with a radio-therapy unit that takes precedence. Perhaps next year?

    Dear Roger,

    Insh'Allah I'll see you there.

It may or may not cheer you up to know that I was sufficiently ill last year that I wondered whether it might be my last Arles. Fortunately it wasn't, and I'm a lot better (with good prognoses) and continuing to improve.

In French there's a phrase a bit like "Good Luck" (Bonne Chance) but it substitutes "Courage" for "Luck".

So: Bonne chance et bonne courage!

    Cheers,

    R.

That would mean leaving the island; my passport ran out some time ago, so I'm not sure if they would allow me to cross the border into England to get to the ferry to France.

    Shame, I'd like to go.

Just wait until we build a wall. Make sure none of you get in, passport or not.;)

Having visited Arles last month, it is place I'd happily go back to. Next year maybe.

I take it you live on Anglesey? I have a friend who has just moved over there. I need to visit them soon, so will I be allowed in?

    Yep.

And possibly yep, but you may need to be vetted.

    Where on the island?

I'm not sure TBH. They bought an old farm that they are doing up for B&B and for his wifes business - going to run sewing retreats.

Let me know when you find out.

Just hope it's not near Holyhead.

    Or even worse, Newborough.
