The guy that empties our septic tank has "No stools are left in this vehicle overnight" on the back of his tanker.

[IMG]A depressing sign by Steve Higgins, on Flickr

They closed that branch for good yesterday, at 16:00. If they think I'm going to lash out £5 on train fair to their Egham branch, they've got another think coming. Sainsburys is only another 5 minutes walk...

There's a sad lack of signs here I'm afraid. It would be so much more fun if there were.

However, my old walking route used to provide me with a smile now and then.

An old one which amused me twice over: first because I assume doing anything 'illegally' is a crime, and secondly because I wasn't aware that our railways were the natural hunting ground for fish. It was tied to the fence with cable ties, it didn't just land there in the wind!

This place changes their sign on a regular basis, so it's always worth the short walk to get there.

I used to work in an Edinburgh bar while a student the first time round. Whoever opened up had the job of writing the blackboard. We all fancied ourselves comedians and there was always a bit of a rivalry going on to see who could produce the best board. To begin with they stuck to the format of informing customers what was going on or available to eat and drink but eventually they descended into the bizarre and random. I still remember the morning I walked up to the sign and it simply read: "Never eat anything bigger than your own head." It's advice I've taken on board ever since.
