Diffuser selection
      13/07/2008 20:45

I am after a diffuser for my canon 580M2 and am getting rather lost
I primarily shoot wildlife and macro photography, but also need something for more general out and about photos - say with family and on trips. I also cannot afford a dedicated macro flash at the moment - so the 580 is going to have to do that as well!

Looking around I have thought about the following diffusers:

Lumiquest softbox - seen this used to good effect with the macro photography of another photographer
Lumiquest minsoftbox - for those more general trips around when the larger version is a bit obtrusive
Gary Fong Light Sphere - recomended to me by another wildlife photographer

Now the only major downside to the lumiquest line is the velcro attchements to the flash head which means that if I go lumiquest I pretty much has to stay lumiquest - not a problem, but I want to make sure that I have made the right choice before committing. I know that they make a clinch strip which can be removed with ease, but its design is more aimed at not getting glue on the flash head, rather than being interchangable off and on the flash.

So does anyone have any advice for me?
