I'd be a bit suspicious about any comment from someone who apparently can't grasp the meaning of 'sealed unit' (and can't spell lens either)...
I've had a Pansonic compact for about a year now, it's had a lot of use and I have seen no dust issues despite all the turning on/off and zooming/focusing movements.
Frankly I doubt the G9 is any poorer in this respect. It sounds like the usual internet claptrap generated by one disgruntled user who's had a faulty camera and therefore decides on the basis on his one experience that every G9 is duff. Hardly a statistically or logically valid position...
