Quote: Gollum - you are going at a fair pace here!!! Eventually sorted out part 1 of mod 2 - have re-done some photos of spanners - just need to tweak them now. Made a tentative start on part 2 - the panning is not easy - this has really kicked me out of my comfort zone - usually shoot in aperture mode. Gollum - can I pick your brain on this one - your shots of the kart racing were brilliant - did you use a tripod? Also, I was impressed by how sharp your images were, did you use continuous-servo autofocus? My practise shots so far have not been over sharp. Part of the Paralympics are on in Manchester next week - so intend to go to the Velodrome for the day to really try & complete this part. If the cycling gets too much I can always try the athletics! But I need to get more practise in - intend to try moving cars sometime this week - hopefully somewhere not too obvious!
Claire - have you abandoned the train theme?
Jude The pace is due to the fact I've had a bit of spare time on my hands...lol...nothing more.
I agree with Gary in that a tripod didn't allow enough flexibility...I did try! So I went for hand holding, it took some practice to get to grips with and I filled the memory card up in ten minutes and had to empty it out at least three times just practicing the panning exercise! The autofocus was left in continuous and seemed to cope ok once it was locked onto the Kart before firing the shutter, but once again as Gary has said you could try pre focusing on a known area your subject is passing. I like the idea of the cycling should make for some good pics with all that bright lycra And moving cars is a good one to pratice on, pratice from a distance first its easier
