3 elements to this shutter priority excercise. 1)slow shutter speed - blurred image. 2)fast shutter speed - frozen image. 3)panned shot. Took some practise shots - 1) no problem but 2) & 3) not sharp enough. Used tripod - & as you said I was having a few problems - don't have a monopod but can always borrow one - so this an option & think I will take your advice on this one. When I practised on friend cycling - for 2)focused on point where I knew he was going to be with AF & changed to manual thinking this may lock focus but didn't work. For 3)was thinking would have to have camera on continuous autofocus & set to continuous shooting. Do you have any more thoughts? - as I said, intend to have at least one more practise on moving cars before next week - I want to feel "sort" of reasonably confident as I expect these bikes will be travelling at some speed!
