Yeah I'd second the handhelf meter option. I use a cheap Sekonic and (L-308bII) it does the job. I think the meters in a lot of older cameras degrade or something, my old canon is the same.
I echo your sentiments with ebay, seems some people on there are more than happy to take your money and then even if they're legit they wouldnt leave feedback (I think its changed now though). Ebays gone down the pan.
Try Robert Whites as well when you go looking. They often flog off stuff like velvia and provia when it nears its date. Provia 100f is great, but with MF you might as well try the 400 as the larger format really benefits. Ilford pan F+ 50 film is a nice mono film to try, I'd almost say it was the velvia of the mono world.
