Believe me, life really takes off at 65, when you start drawing the good old pension money. If, like me, you are still working the extra cash is useful to spend on holidays and photo kit. The kids are off your hands, well almost and it is only the grandchildren that cost a few bob now and again.
You do need to make good provision for the pensions though if you want to retire completely.
Regarding the competition, one could set up a camera on a tripod, focus on a spot, set the self timer, move into position holding a large mirror that showed your camera. or you can simply 'break the rules'.
