I like Ilford DD-X. It keeps very well for a liquid, I've used it 9 or 10 months after opening and it's still perfectly good. I don't enjoy mixing powder chemicals, though I have recently bought a pack of Kodak Xtol to give it a try (I like the idea of its more eco-benign contents). Ilford ID-11 is the benchmark, though I don't think you'll see much difference between that and DD-X.
