    Help with Nikon 4100

Does anyone have one? You might be able to help me. The flash seems to flash about 3 times whatever flash mode it is on. I don't know if it's normal and it doesn't say anything about it in the manual, but i thought it was only supposed to do that on red eye reduction?

I don't have one but does it use a pre-flash to assess exposure and focus distance in low light?

I'm not sure, but it has a red light that is used to focus in low light.

My 4500 will flash 3 times in 'red eye' mode and so should yours...

Are you in one of the sixteen 'scene modes'?

Can you turn off the flash and stop it firing in a dimmly lit room?

Try the flash in daylight and see if it fires all the time.

Try all scene modes and see when the flash fires (night/day time)

I believe there is an extra red-eye mode on your cam as well.

Let us know your results :-)

I haven't tried all that yet, but according to everyone i've asked, my flash doesn't flash 3 times, it only flashes once. But to my eyes, it flashes 3 times very quickly. Someone told me it starts off slow and gets quicker. Maybe it's just my eyes, i don't know.
