There are some FREE programs to assist you with your images at the bottom of this page.
1. Images must be uploaded from your hard drive to a web hosting site before you can post.
...or Flickr-tutorial. Note: The Flickr free account will increase files by 50%. That means a 150Kb file will end up as 225Kb on the forums. You can also use your own site.2. You can use PhotoBucket that DOES NOT increase file sizes when you upload them.
Open up a 'Private' account for use on here! Click for tutorial
Note: you may have to click on the tutorials to expand them in your browser.
3. We recommend image sizes of up to 800 pixels x 800 pixels
We also recommend that file sizes should be compressed between 30% and 80% (so that other people can't use them). Start with 30% compression and work up. Aim for around 150Kb (153,000 bytes) colour - 75Kb (76,800 Bytes) for images that contain one or two colours and b/w.
The image below is just 53Kb and gives you a good idea of what can be acheived. Do all the necessary adjustments then reduce and sharpen your image LAST! Those that have Photoshop or Elements can use "Save For Web" Click for tutorial that shows your image size before saving. If you don't have them, use PIXLR below.
Don't understand compression? Click here to find out! Click on it to expand it in your browser.
