    Rubbishy Osprey photo...

Exactly what it says in the header, as it's a gnats whatsit short of a 100% crop of a frame taken with a Canon 30D, 300mm f2.8 IS lens with both a 2x and 1.4x tele-converter @ISO 800, and focused manually, somewhere on the Somerset Levels.

In a day or so it will probably have moved on, though it's been hanging around for just over a week now. With the 7D still "being fixed", I'll probably have to wait another 12 months to improve on this.....

I think you're lucky to have even seen one, I still haven't...yet.

You'll have to come down to Somerset next year Richard .

Usually one comes through in the spring on it's way north, though it doesn't hang around for long. This time of year one stops off on it's way south, and can hang around for a week or more, feeding itself up for the trip back to Africa.

The one above has been hanging around now for just over a week, but will probably move on in the next few days. Usually it perches in dead trees out on one of the lakes (old peat workings) which are normally the roost and nesting places for large numbers of cormorants. Alas, they're quite a way from the hide, hence the stacked tele-converters and heavy crop.

The above is no more than a record shot really, but......
