    portfolio presentation

    Can anyone help?

I was just wondering what the best way is to present a portfolio to someone i.e an agency etc? I've got a collection of shots but I'm just not sure on how to let them see them...do I give them the memory stick? give them a CD, a link to a flickr page or what?!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Send them a link via email to your website, flickr page or whatever you have initially. They will be getting dozens if not hundreds of approaches a day and will not want to be loading sticks or cds, Make it a fairly direct link as the will also not wanting to be sitting there clicking through beautifully designed complex websites before viewing pics either. Good luck

Depends on who it is, really. I've shown one or two libraries pictures online. I may also have emailed a selection of low res JPEGs. They'll usually advise on what they want to look at.

I'd go with Glenn, contact them and ask how they prefer to view new work.

They might want you to take in a portfolio box with 20x16 (or 10x8) prints.

I think it was someone here who had linked to a PDF download - I think that worked very well. It puts all your images you want to show in one place and one easy file.

The one that was linked to here was also very well set out - and the guy had 'framed' and paired up the shots.

I designed a small pdf-Portfolio i will send to a couple of picture agencies, maybe they want me to take pictures of sports and music events in Munich regularly. (Please note the embedded adobe reader scales images really bad. Downloading the file to your harddisk first will make the images look better)

One of the problems is that some libraries aren't specifically interested in presentation or what you believe to be your best work.

Because photography is generally over-subscribed, they occasionally ask for pictures which you think will fit into their library and give it more breadth.

That's a slightly different thing - it becomes more like a job interview at that point.

Thanks very much all, your advice really will help.

I'm liking the PDF thing though, but as it's been said, I'll speak to them and see how they prefer viewing them.

    Thanks again
