    Minolta A 50mm f1.7

I`ve been trying to buy one for ages and I`ve just been outbid yet again on fleabay. They seem to go for stupidly high prices, much more than they`re worth.
I don`t feel able to pay way over the odds for one.

Rant over. It`s frustrating when there are so many out there.

    cheers and sorry to moan.

Well actually the sell for exactly what they're worth - to that buyer.

All the old Minolta lenses have risen quite dramatically in price since Sony enter the dSLR market.

There are still good buys to be had at car-boots.

You`re right Roger but, much as I want one,for this lens to sell for more than £100 is insane,IMVHO,besides how would I justify that sort of expenditure to SWMBO,who if frugal in extremis
    I did pick up a 70-210 f3.5-4.5 for £69 a while ago though.She thought that ridiculous.

    Oh well Cheers

If you don't need a full-frame lens then the Sony 50mm f/1.8 SAM is a good buy and has received some excellent reports. Of course it's a modern plasticy lens - not like the old metal ones - but it works very well.

    Re: Minolta A 50mm f1.7update

    It's not that rare.
I bought a Polaroid film pack holder from a professional photographer in the Leicester area on the same basis a short time ago. The item and my cheque crossed in the post. Probably cost a bit less than your lens.

I had to buy a Minolta 7000 to get my copy of the same lens. I found it on a market stall and the vendor wouldn't separate. (Body & lens cost £70) After shooting my first film, I discovered that the 7000 had a dead rewind motor. No problem as I still have a darkroom, but it cost me a bit to get the 7000 repaired. Cracking lens! but not as nice in feel as the old MD range.

Well it`s heartwarming to know that human kindness isn`t dead.My experience has been the opposite in many ways.Rather sad the way society has changed.
