    Holiday booking rip- off

I'm in the process of booking my holiday in Thailand, photographing the wildlife and countryside. I've been before but this time decided to book the car in advance through Avis in the UK, which proved rip-off Britain is still alive and kicking.
Using the Avis UK website, they wanted to charge me £148.21 (just over 7000 Bt) but using Avis's website in Thailand, the price will be 5,400 Bt!

It's a bit like the situation in the past, booking hotels in France; In the UK, the price for a twin-bedded room would be per person, whilst in France, they charge the same price per room, in other words half the price!

Needless to say, for some strange reason, I'm not making my booking through Avis UK ....

Same with Eurostar trains. If you book on the French side the return tickets are cheaper.

Yes, but you can't use the return part of the ticket first.

No I meant you can buy the UK-FRANCE-UK ticket from France and it's cheaper.

Well of course it would be cheaper in France, no-one over there would want to buy a ticket like that so they'll be looking to get shot of them!

Anyone tried buying a FRANCE-UK-FRANCE ticket here in the UK? That's gotta be even cheaper - I mean having got out once, you ain't gonna want to go back !
