Canon EOS 450D suddenly disappeared

Decided on the 450d as it has a mixture of amateur/semi pro features and suddenly it just disappeared from amazon.co.uk

priced at £451.90 - £30 cashback working out at a decent £421.90

really gutted , anyone know if this happens because of stock or is it gone for good?

TBH I think you need to get in quick as the launch of the 550D recently means it's likely to fade away fairly soon...

if the worst comes to worst i would opt for the 1000d but i have read that a new model is being released of that too

Have you thought about used as an option?

A secondhand 30D and 18-55 IS lens from Ffordes for example would come to about the same as the 450D...

i have but i worry about having one that has been dropped (even though most people look after their equippment)

There was a cracking deal on refurbished ones at Focus last week - £299 with the IS lens after the £30 cashback, with 1 year warranty.

I have bought from here before and found them both quick and reliable.

Problem with that is it's an import, so no UK warranty. Also I'm a little dubious of the No VAT. HMRC may come back and haunt you eventually.
