    Varnishing prints

Looking through an art materials catalogue I came across a varnish/acrylic medium for paintings that protects images from UV light and airborne pollutants.
I sometimes print on art paper and I use dye based ink. I understand dye inks are more fugitive than pigment inks.
Does anyone know whether it is a practical proposition to use such a protective coating ( either matt or gloss) to protect my prints?
    Cheers

ps I painted a gloss acrylic medium, which is not really a varnishing material, on a monochrome print and the brush marks showed up and I thought it looked ok. But I have no idea how it will last or if it will protect from UV light or pollutants.

This the stuff made by GeePee (or something like that?)

If so I used it years ago on matt prints that I was putting in a camera club exhibition. I used it mainly to stop fingerprints. Not sure what the prints are like now, they're stored away at the moment. Would have to sort them out, but as they've been out of sunlight I doubt it would help.

It is in the SAA catalogue. Various makers Winsor and Newton, Daler Rowney etc

Also one of the reasons I did it - at the club I was in all photographs were passed to all members present to be eyeballed before marking and yes pictures on art paper got scuffed and messed up. I binned my varnished print after storing it in a drawer so I am not able to make up my own mind.
