    Photography of streets

Hi! I have just registered in this forum.
I am from Porto, Portugal and I am photographing the streets of my city for some years now.

Below you can see the link to the gallery.
Note that the style changed as the years passed. I maintain the use of strong colors, and I recognize that in some (well, a lot) images the colors and processing are overdone.
In the beginning, I have also used "digital" skies in some images.
Lately I am using HDR - some of them also overdone, I know...

However, I think that I have at least ten good photos among these hundreds. You can see them in

A critique (good or bad) will be well received. Thanks in advance

Hi, and welcome to the Forum.

Your opening page loaded nice and quickly - Good!

I then asked for a slide show, and each new slide flickered as it loaded and unloaded. Changing the delay from 3 to 5 seconds made no difference, so I stopped viewing. Pity, as you've got some nice views.

(I'm using the latest Firefox on a WinXP machine, and it's a broadband connection.)

Nice and quick, slide show worked fine for me, although I wouldnt have noticed it was there if Malcolm hadnt mentioned it. Originally I just selected the pics and switched off as they are too big for my browser window, I cant see a whole picture without having to scroll over it. Id make them all slideshow size, perhaps with the option to view a larger version if the viewer wishes.

    Re: Photography of streets

Slideshow worked fine for me (Safari on OS X 10.6.2).

If I have complaints they're really ones you have identified yourself, either directly or obliquely; I'm not big on OTT colour (not having ever visited Portugal I can't say how true to life/exaggerated these may be or not).

Second, I think there are far too many pictures in the gallery - 385 (and rising?) is a vast amount. You wouldn't expect to have to sit through a third of that in a regular slide show (or would certainly be getting restless anyway), so you should consider editing out some of the weaker examples, perhaps starting with those you've overworked in post-processing.

Maybe a couple of smaller galleries with themes would be a better way of displaying such a large body of work.

Re: Photography of streets ... WOW

    Hello Jose_Paulo_Andrade,

What a great selection of photos and, as for too many (385), if they weren't as
good as they are, I would be in agreement with Mr. Franklin ... BUT, IMVHO,
they are that good and, consequently, I have no problem with the number of pics In fact,
here a few that for me are stand-outs:

    1) girl up the alley
    2) person at top of stairs
    3) old man on stairs
    4) I have "no idea" but it's called Contumil and it's great
    5) Orange/Yellow and Pink/Magenta ???? Livraria Lelio
    6) the famous Miquel Bombarda ??

    Cheers,

    Jack
