I would argue that the comments from the shopping centre are evidence of a truly paranoid society - how did we get here?

Not a good advert for a shopping centre is it?
Presumably the chimps they employ as 'security' are incapable of being trained to observe before determining whether to approach and quiz.![]()

what a complete load of morons, 1 you never make an accusation of the p word ever, who the hell is the shopping centre or the guard qualified to make that judgement and neither is the average pc either and that kind of accusation would never be used until you reach the interview room, if arrested.
the training of the guard is at fault, if he was better trained his answer should have been, sorry sir we do not allow photography, could either please stop or please leave, that it, why is the shopping centre issuing some rubbish statements.
if they believe that to be taking place then call the police and they in turn should charge and call social services that's its.
If I were him I would sue big time, and there is no obligation to prove you kid is yours at all, just as there no obligation to provide id, unless arrested.
also the police should be taken to court if they forced deletion of the images without a court order, or an arrest.
this has made steam rise big time.

Isn't the guard guilty of Defemation of Charecter, which I believe can be a rather costly affair?
Take the barsteward to court and take him for every penny he's got!

I love the comment "you can't prove that" when told it was the photographers son
Surely the 4 year old running up shortly afterwards and saying "daddy" would have provided all the proof this annoying officious pr*ck required?
Or perhaps we should now all start carrying birth certificates with us as well?
"He does not need to be re-educated in the way he approaches shoppers"?????? Too right. He needs his butt kicked out, preferably with an angry mob of photographers waiting for the big-headed toe-rag.
And as for the police officer demanding names and addresses and demanding images be deleted? Don't get me started !!
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most
Owning a camera does not make you a photographer. It makes you a person who owns a camera. And, if the authorities are to be believed, a pedophile, a terrorist, and a pervert.
so why don't we take the words of the shopping centre, the police and the security guard to start a facebook group to boycott the shopping centre, as its full of p's and stop people going there as its so dangerous for children, see what they think of that, I'm sure that will bash some sense into a few people.
brummie
Good idea Brummie.
Problem is we would probably be sued for deformation.
I'd hate to think that any shopping centre would have such a problem with p's and if they have surely there should be a strong police presence and not leave it to the private sector, who it appears are better at hassling people taking photos ?
Sounds good to me.so why don't we take the words of the shopping centre, the police and the security guard to start a facebook group to boycott the shopping centre, as its full of p's and stop people going there as its so dangerous for children, see what they think of that, I'm sure that will bash some sense into a few people.

Does the picture turn out differently than what you see in the viewfinder?
"Problem is we would probably be sued for deformation."
why for deformation I'm would not be making it up we would be using their quotes. not ours, it would be their words and that's it and that would not be deformation. If we said that then yes maybe it would be, as they are the ones saying it we are only quoting them, where's the deformation in that ???.
brummie
I would think if you bend people out of shape, you might expect worse than being sued. Of course, if you mean defamation, that's a different matter.Good idea Brummie.
Problem is we would probably be sued for deformation.

I am not sure what law is broken simply by photographing children. His own or anyone else's. They certainly were not sexually inapropriate.

well if you ask the internet watch foundation the bar is very low, anyone ever seen the film little miss sunshine at the end, and the kind of young people pageants that go on there's a whole industry to that goes around it and to be quite honest I thought I had found something dodgy, from a spam email i stupidly clicked on about 5 years ago, so I emailed them an alert and it sent me to one of those pageant sites, trust me I was shocked not only at the pics but at internet watch foundations response, er they were wearing clothes, its legal, er lets just say the poses and the clothes in my view were not.I am not sure what law is broken simply by photographing children. His own or anyone else's. They certainly were not sexually inappropriate.
then again any one seen some of nan goldins work, some of that is something I would not photograph, elton john had one, anyone remember the police being brought in on that one, and it was deemed as art.
so a kid enjoying a ride in a busy mall fully clothed in no provocative poses with his dad, no fancy lighting, not even close to any line, in any stretch of the imagination.
oh yeh remember the news reader a few years ago as well, when she took pics of her kid in the bath, need I say more.

I really think we should all contact the security company, Land Securities and ask them to explain why they have a policy of harrassing parents with children. Also, if this place is a hot bed of perverts surely it should be closed down? How about organising a visit of dozens of parents with children and all at once we produce cameras taking pictures of our children. These idiots must be stopped!!
'I'm a parent with a camera and kids, not a terrorist or pervert'
What the heck is going on over there? We need a bit of sanity back on this planet. Not everyone with a camera is a pedophile or terrorist. Sometimes, it's just people out with their families taking a few photos here and there.
Enough is enough!
