Unfortunately another one from the 'archives' for me as I've been too busy with work to go out taking new shots! Picture was quite fitting IMO : )

ZX9 love your entry. Superb. Tried to do something similar down here in Sussex, but couldn't get the angle I needed. Congrats, really good subject.

Thanks Robert, I kind of guessed the exposure, wide open and as long as I could safely hand hold, thought I did take quite a few shots. (Agfa APX400, M2 with Canon 50mm F1.4 @ 1/30th sec.)

Yes Fen it is Greenwich foot tunnel, I can imagine it echoing to the stamp of clogged dockers back in days of old, or Cybermen or Jack Boots in 1984.

Is it safe to walk through in 2010,or are there "orrible crimes" down there? I imagine the gear you had down there was worth quite a bit as well. Were you nervous?
I will put this on my "must visit" list next time I go up to the smoke.

    Re: Follow the lights

I've been down there loads and never heard of any 'orrible crimes.

Being as the only access is by lift* and the whole tunnel is CCTV'd I guess you'd be pretty safe.

    * edit - Forgot about the stairs! But the place is manned and monitored

    Re: Follow the lights

It is as safe as anywhere is these days, if you go at the weekend there are lots of tourists around. I have taken colour pictures down there and it looks far less threatening / interesting depending on how you look at it. As for value of the camera, it is a 40 year old rangefinder that can be stuffed in a (large) coat pocket so I tend not to worry about it. I think a big DSLR with a bright red or yellow strap would draw more attention.
The last time I went there the southern lift was out of action so stairs were the only way in or out.

You seem to have your flickr set to Private as from that photo url your ID should be http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=4433093520, which gives me

    "This photo is private.

Oops! You don't have permission to view this photo."

Hi Erm, yes you're right, I was sorting out the photos exif, to be displayed and I was clicking away on the public stuff, it's possible I didn't save it or when I did it sent the connections into a frenzy. Flickr is awful sensitive like that I hear.

Out of interest, for my first attempt at this shot I set up my camera, flash and borrowed external flash in my front room. Placed the subject in front of the camera, turned out the lights and took a picture of my wall!!

That will teach me to not frame the shot first!
