    Hi
I cant find any info on the "picture size" setting in the menu
On the back of the camera bottom right press "Q Menu" button and select the MP size 10mp 5mp 3mp etc and the format i.e. 4.3(old tv format) or 3.2.(postcard) or 16.9 (wide screen).

See page 18 in the manual...

EZ stands for extended optical zoom and can be used when you set the MP to 5mp (17x) and 3mp (21x)

    See the zoom range

The 4x3 10MP is the native resolution of the camera. The others are cropped out of the full area. So if you always used 4x3 10MP you wouldn't waste any pixels and you could crop the other shapes on your computer.

    TZ7 aspect ratios

The 4x3 10MP is the native resolution of the camera. The others are cropped out of the full area. So if you always used 4x3 10MP you wouldn't waste any pixels and you could crop the other shapes on your computer.
I'm not sure that's correct for the viewer - if one looks at the LCD screen in 4x3 then changes it to 3x2, the scene becomes wider, and if you change to 16.9, the scene becomes wider still...

...I've just lined up a picture frame in 4x3 with both frame edges up against the edge of the screen view. When I change to 3x2 and 16x9 the frame edges move in, and the view is extended beyond the picture frame.

If as you say, the 4x3 10MP is the native resolution of the camera then the view in 4x3 is being reduced smaller to give the effect of the other ratios being wider

    Re: TZ7 aspect ratios

    Chris is completely correct, sorry. The sensor is 3968 x 2736. Forgetting the lower resolutions of the same aspect ratios for 4 x 3 it crops out 3648 x 2736, for 3 x 2 it uses 3776 x 2520 and for 16 x 9 uses 3968 x 2232.
If as you say, the 4x3 10MP is the native resolution of the camera then the view in 4x3 is being reduced smaller to give the effect of the other ratios being wider.
the way I was thinking about it is that you could change the shape by cropping top and bottom of the 4 x 3 like the old APS cameras did.
