    Office and Works

    When I bought my computer, amongst the software loaded was a permanent version of Microsoft Works and a trial version of Microsoft Office. I have since bought, and loaded, a permanent version of Office. Would it do any harm to delete Works? I would assume not, but if anyone can confirm this I'd be grateful.

    It will do no harm what so ever to delete Works.

    If works was removed from the planet it wouldn't do any harm.

    The cheapest version of Office 2010 will be free, but only when pre-installed on a new PC from selected PC manufacturers. Chris Adams, Office Product Manager for Microsoft UK, says Starter 2010 provides "lightweight versions of Word and Excel" that lack advanced features such as change tracking. "Starter is really replacing Microsoft Works," he says.

    1. No problems should arise if you delete Works;
    2. If you bought the full version of the same version as the trial for Office, you can just enter the product key rather than having to delete the trial version and instal the purchased version from scratch. That's what I did when I bought a new laptop last December; takes seconds rather than about an hour :-)
    Bad news is that I hate the ribbon in Office 2007 and much prefer Office 2003 :-(

    ....you'll probably just have got used to it when they bring out something completely different in office 2010!
