    ixus D500

I bought one of these in mint condition yesterday, for a pittance. The build quality is solid, the sensor is 1/1.8,and the image is really good.Is it just that 5mp. is not seen as good enough in today's market that I got such a bargain, or the fact that the camera has got one of those Sony suspect sensors? Does anyone know how likely the ixus 500 sensor is to fail? I never go anywhere that is hot, or humid.(that may cause faiure according to Canon)

It is a nice little camera, although noise is quite an issue at ISO 200 and above. Mine gets very little action these days, which is a shame, but it still works as good as new as regards the sensor.

I suspect that 5mp is seen by most punters as unusable due to the hype that more is better. I got good results up to A4 with my 4MP Nikon Coolpix 4500 which has the same size sensor as yours - enjoy
