Colour Profile on Different Account (Win 7)

For our camera club's new laptop, we have two accounts, an admin one and a non-admin one for club meetings.

It uses Windows 7, which I am still getting to grips with.

I have successfully calibrated the monitor using Spyder3 for the admin account, but the colour profile doesn't load when logging on as the other account.

Can anyone help me locate the settings allowing this other account to load the same calibrated profile? (I could calibrate it again for this account, but surely this can be avoided?)

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Is the software to load the profile in your 'Startup' menu option? If so you should move it to 'All users'.

I persevered with searching Windows and found this:

Hopefully it will do the trick!

Right click the 'Startup' menu option and select 'Open'. Highlight the shortcut, right click and select 'Cut' (or Ctrl-C). Right click the startup menu again and select 'Open all users' and then right click and 'paste' (or Ctrl-V) the shortcut there.

I'm not sure that just associating the profile with your monitor is enough. You need to load the profile with the software that produced it. This is done with the 'Startup' menu option.

    Thanks, I'll try that!

The thing I mentioned before didn't work.

I've gone from XP to 7 never having used Vista, so it's mighty confusing!

Re: Colour Profile on Different Account (Win 7)

Right clicking the Startup icon just gives Properties and Open windows explorer, neithe rof which seem to help.

Right clicking "All Programs" in the actual menu seemed to offer more hope.

There's Open All Users > Programs, but the program is already in there:

    Datacolor > ProfileChooser, Spyder3Utility etc

    I'm still stuck, sorry!

There's this, but Spyder3 is already listed there:

It's getting the colour profile to load too....

No, right click the actual Startup menu option.

    Then proceed as above.

Thanks Norman, I've with you now, but the Spyder3 Utility is still there in the All Users .

It's getting it to change the colour profile that's still the issue.

In the secondary account, I have selected and associated it in the Utility preferences, but it doesn't seem to load (there's no Adobe Gamma creating an issue, btw).

Re: Colour Profile on Different Account (Win 7)

    Problem solved!

I opened the Spyder3 utility for the first time in the secondary account, and it asked me for the serial number.

I had already entered this in the admin account after installation, and didn't think I'd need to enter it again, as all the calibration was done from the admin account.

In the settings, the calibrated profile was already associated there, and as soon as I'd entered the serial number and quit, the calibrated profile was loaded!

So, Windows is off the hook on this one, lol.

Thanks anyway, Norman, for taking the time to help!
