    efs 18-55 is

thinking of getting the above for about 100 quid new is it worth getting as i havent got anything smaller, or is it worth saving a bit more to get perhaps a better prime lens, i already have a 28-200 and an 85mm just wanted something i could use for limted space for portraits at home?

Any kind of prime lens wider than 28mm is likely to cost you considerably more than £100 used let alone new - especially anything as wide as 18-20mm. Unless you expect to do a lot of work in confined spaces the 18-55 IS is probably good enough.

I believe you can get the 18-55mm IS a lot cheaper than £100 on eBay........

I rather like the 18-55 IS - it's an absolute bargain, and a decent enough performer.
