    Olympus Camera Power Adapter Query

I've just bought a power adapter for my Olympus FE-170 camera. It seems to work, but there seems to be a strange rumbling sound coming from inside the unit. After unplugging it, it smells like something was burning inside. A few days later and there is still a lingering burning smell.

I've had 1 of these power supplies before, but it lasted only a few weeks after I heard a little bang inside, like the components had burned up inside. This also made the same strong noise.

Apparently the adapter should work on this make of camera. I'm not sure if it's the flex and plug you get with it is the wrong type. I tryed numerous leads mostly with a 3amp plug, but intially used to a 5amp one. The specs of the power supply are as follows:

    OLYMPUS AC ADAOTER MODEL E-8AC

    INPUT 100-240V – 50/60HZ
    0.23-0.13A 21-28VA 13W

    OUTPUT 3.4V – 2.5A

    Any help/advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks

Re: Olympus Camera Power Adapter Query

Mains powered electrical devices sold in the UK have to meet very stringent electrical safety requirements, and in your case, I'd expect Olympus UK would be interested in your problems. Have you contacted them?
