    Print Quality canon Pixma IP5300

    Hi can anyone help.
I have a canonon Pixma IP5300 and use Canon Glossy Photo Pare with genuine canon inks.
When I print my photo's they always seem washed out as though there is'nt enough ink being laid on the paper.
Last week for the photo competion at my club I experimented with various settings but my prints still looked washed out.
I then decided to print the same picture twice on the same peice of photo paper even though I was advised against because the image would not match up but to my surprise I could'nt see any mis-match on the printed image and the colours were far deeper and matched more like what I had on my screen.
Anyone any ideas as to how I can get the deeper colours as per my screen image first time?
    I am using:
    Windows 7
Canon Powershot G10 and associated software for the processing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is the paper set to the correct paper in the print driver? I think the printer may be defaulting to Plain Paper rather tha Canon Photo Paper Glossy.

    Thanks for replying.
i have checked the paper settings in the driver setup and software setup and Canon Glossy is selected before printing and the results are always the same washed out prints.

Are you printing after some adjustment to the image, or is the image as downloaded from the camera? My first thoughts, given that your paper settings are correct, is that your screen is naturally too dark, and that you are brightening your image to make it look right on screen. However, if you have done no brightening, that cannot be the problem.

Have you run the Test Print in the printer utilities, to check that the ink is flowing OK? Are you selecting Photo Print on your Page Set Up, as well as selecting Glossy Paper? It does seem to me that there is a problem with the settings somewhere.
