Batteries are perhaps one of the few items that don't get reviewed that often, particulary the AA types, but given that us photographers require them for a number of accessories and devices, namely flashguns, I felt that a review of this particular brand of item deserved a review even if small.
Over a year ago, I bought 8 pairs of Vapextech batteries off Ebay to get me out of a tight spot as I had an event to photograph. I did not expect much out them, being a brand which I never heard before, but presentation wise, they did give off an air of quality. I bought the 2900mAh type which has been through my rapid charger a few times and that should be enough to kill a few pairs over a year. Yet the batteries are still going strong (with only one failed, albeit I have charged it in a trickle charger and it seems still ok).
But ultimately what led me to write a little review was the fact that one of my DSLRs uses AA as its main power source as well as some film SLRs which have a power/vertical grip.
I have used these batteries with my Fujifilm S3 pro DSLR and I have noticed the last time I used it that I had taken on one charge 1300 photos including reviewing photos, with occasional built in flash usage. On the same charge, I have transferred the set of batteries to a Minolta 800si with vertical grip for over a week and the batteries just precisely after that time are showing signs of a half charge, which quickly disappears on powering on and off the camera.
I have also used these batteries on other occasions on two different flash guns and again the performance exceeds expectations. But what ultimately prompted this review was their performance in cameras.
They are also inexpensive batteries which in conclusion, lead to a thouroughly recommended buy, for all your digital/film cameras and related devices.
