    SD cards: A question

What are the pros and cons,if any,of using a card which has been used several times in camera A,in camera B?

What I mean is should a card be used ONLY in one camera,or can they be swapped around provided they are formatted in camera every time?

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks

I do not think that there is any disadvantage to reformatting a card in another camera for use in that camera. What may not be so good is to format it in camera A and use it in camera B (same make obviously).

Thanks David.I would only ever reformat in the camera it`s to be used in.

When you said"same make obviously"did you mean camera or card?

I was thinking in terms of using cards previously used in a Powershot,in my Ricoh compact.

    Thanks Dave

I've used my cards in three different compacts - I just format them in the camera I'm using - simple (said the Meerkat)

    Thanks Chris

Incidentally, what practical difference is there between using standard SD cards and SDHC x150 for example?
I would imagine the standard card to be slower. Is there any other difference?

    Sorry to be a pain

When I researched this some time ago I got conflicting views with regards to writing speeds between the SD and SDHC cards. However, the SDHC can hold more than 4GB's so it's not worth buying SD cards for that reason.

If you're using burst mode or video then the faster card is preferable (I use 150x) but you also have to take into account your camera. Some older models can't make use of the higher speeds anyway.
